in my work as a meaning coach I help client explore and discover their personal path and language of meaning. Choosing to explore meaning takes courages, in our work together we stir up and confront areas where meaning feels lacking in life, clients work to face the uncertainty of areas which previous held meaning. As human beings we change, our circumstances change and therefore our sources of meaning changes. Yes, these are stirring topics which have presented themselves to thinking human beings for centuries. What an adventure! Why miss it?
I do this work because I believe that many people have a deep longing to talk about meaning in their life. It comes up frequently as I listen to people at art shows and in public discussions, talking circles and workshops. I believe this longing spans all ages from teens to elders past their 70's. The dominant culture has much to offer but we've been swept away by a fast daily life which has left many of us wondering why we do what we do. Meaning coaching offers you a chance to slow the run-away horse, to take some quiet time essentially to renew your relationship with yourself, to discover what is truly meaningful to you in the world at this time in your life, perhaps to renew the covenants made when you were young and full of hope and innocence. It takes courage to explore meaning but you are your own best expert, a meaning coach can be the guide and a supporter who makes the difference between deciding to do this work or not feeling up to it despite the longing you feel to explore...

safe supportive accountability
by providing support, encouragement, open questions and friendly accountabililty I assist clients as they develop dreams, goals and step-by-step plans for change and personal development. The client makes all decisions about goals and the speed at which they want to work. Providing gentle, friendly and supportive accountability as a professional meaning coach is an important part of my work with all clients.
I hope the system and tools I use with clients will continue to benefit, empower and inform clients' meaning-making choices long after we conclude our work together now.
empowerment
the teachings of the Circle process applied to meaning coaching will inspire greater confidence and trust in one's personal vision while teaching ways to mentally and emotionally navigate the ups and downs of exploring what is meaningful to you at this time in your life, and to explore meaning choices that engage your heart and mind.
because the Circle process fully engages a person wherever they are individually in their life it is powerful and productive for clients at any stage of life ~ the Circle does not age or lessen in wisdom. The Circle is an ancient, wise and nurturing tool for people of all ages and circumstances.
your natural wisdom
clients do not need to buy-in to any belief or set of rules. My meaning coaching does not require you to think or believe anything in particular, and the teachings of the Circle simply provide a way for clients to assess where their life and activities feel productive, meaningful and satisfying; clients have an opportunity in the coaching process to identify if there are spaces where they feel unfulfilled, stagnant, fearful or just plan unsatisfying; and can explore ways to discover and embrace their own unique brand of deeper meaning.
interest and commitment to an exploration of your own sense and claim for meaning-making are more important than a degree or other experience or knowledge: nobody can decide what is meaningful to another person. the journey to discover what is meaningful to oneself is a journey we must make alone, and make it again during life's changes. A meaning coach can be a guide, a supporter and a cheering section. No-one who has experienced the power of having an advocate, a supporter or a guide will minimize the power of that sort of true companion.
each client decides how much time and energy she or he has for the work they wish to do. Early on in our discussons a client usually wants to chat about short-term and long-term goals that feel satisfying and meaningful to her. No personal goal is too big or too small; sometimes a beginning goal grows and leads somewhere quite unexpected.
